Leon G. Breitling S.A. Montbrillant Watch Manufactory hieß extrem seltene Taschenuhr aus 1915 Werk signiert mit Montbrillant It's a spectacular gold-filled chronograph/stop watch by the famous Swiss maker, Montbrillant, before the company renamed itself as Breitling. This was a presentation piece honoring a big fast boat and its owner, for race activities with the Larchmont (NY) Yacht Club. George W Scott was owner of yacht Miladi, and a nominating committee member of the club. He had joined in 1893. You may be able to see that it is inscribed "To Scotty The man who made Miladi famous from Charley Saint and Del." The inscription is dated June 25, 1915. The 70 ft schooner Miladi, made by Lally & Son, was a pretty strong racing boat, as a September 8, 1914 NY Times story indicates: MILADI LEADS LARCHMONT FLEET; Sixty-two Yachts Compete in the Big Regatta of the Day on the Sound. Redverse of watch case has the pennant for MILADI (see pic) Taschenuhr Watch insides made in Switzerland by Montbrillant, inscribed inside the works with that name which also say "11 ELEVEN JEWELS" and "THREE ADJUSTMENT .. (The last letters seem to be under the watch rim). Case is by Wadsworth Watch Case Co. This watch was reconditioned almost exactly 1 year ago in VA by Ed Fasanella, whom I believe is significant in the antique watch maintenance field. All that was needed was kind of an unoiling and re-oiling, and it works just fine, according to current owner.
